Board of Adjustment:

This volunteer board is an independent board of residents of Hollister that has meetings on an as needed basis that are scheduled to be the 3rd Wednesday of the month. They only need to meet when there has been a zoning appeal filed. If there are no appeals or variance requests then this board does not meet.

The board is to hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of City Code Sections 400.010 through 415.290 (Land Use & Zoning) and Section 525.010 through 525.130 (City Sign Code). This appeal can be appealing an administrative decision made by another board as it relates to land use/zoning.

The Board's Powers relative to variations. To hear and decide variance requests of any of the regulations or provisions of such zoning ordinance relating to the construction or alternation of buildings or structures. This typically involves setback requirements.

There are criteria given to the board to follow when granting a variance so that they are not just granting a privilege.
